I was thinking that it might be fun to write reviews on all of the products that I've used up over the last 30 days. I'm actually starting to use things up since I started my 1 year no buy! One benefit to only having one product in each category out at a time is that I actually finish things rather than reaching for one product one day and another the next.
Things I've Used Up
1. Herbivore Botanicals Pink Clay Soap
I won this product in an Instagram giveaway. I used this soap in the bath on my body and it was good, not great. There was nothing wrong with it but it just wasn't a standout product for me.
2. EVOLVh Shampoo (trial size)
This shampoo is my absolute favorite! It makes my hair soft, shiny, and not weighed down. I especially like that this is considered a "green" shampoo so I know that I'm not damaging my hair when I use it.
3. Odacite Aloe + Immortelle Hydra-Repair Treatment Mist (trial size)
I got this in an Odacite Discovery Kit that I bought at The Detox Market in LA. I wasn't really able to evaluate this mist because the little spray tube was so small. I can say that it didn't irritate my skin or have an offensive smell, but I think you need to use a mist for 4 weeks+ to see if it really has an effect. Also, I'm concerned about Odacite products in general because I've heard (and experienced) that they expire quickly, so you need to use them up right away.
4. Body Shop British Rose Hand Cream (1 fl oz)
I got this small hand cream in a British Rose set that I purchased from The Body Shop in doing my research on rose products. Mostly I wanted to evaluate the packaging. This hand cream had a really strong scent, which concerns me. Also I did not find this lotion particularly moisturizing, although it was very soft and I enjoyed putting it on (other than the strong smell).
5. KYPRIS Heliotropic Sunscreen SPF 30 (sample from Credo)
When I was in SF recently, I spent at least an hour poking around in the Credo store. They sell all kinds of green beauty products so I was in heaven. One of the sales ladies gave me a sample of a Kypris product (she was a sales person from Kypris who was working in the store). Unfortunately, she didn't tell me what the product was so I used it as a nighttime cream, thinking it was just a lotion. The strong white cast made me think that it might be sunscreen so I did my online research to find out that's exactly what it was. So from then I used it as a sunscreen. Although knowing that a product is good for my skin goes a long way, the white cast on this and the shininess made me miss my Suntegrity tinted sunscreen, which is still my favorite.
6. Leonor Greyl Paris Masque Fleurs de Jasmin (sample from Oh My Cream)
I picked up this sample from the Oh My Cream store when I was in Paris. I've emailed Leonor Greyl a couple of times asking if their products are vegan but I never heard back. Regardless, I wanted to try one of their products in the meantime. I used up this hair mask sample but I didn't really get on with it. I didn't notice a huge difference in my hair after using it and I found the jasmine scent to be way too strong (I'm really sensitive to smells though!).
7. Lush Plum Rain Shower Gel (8.4 fl oz)
Like most Lush products, I like it but don't love it. For a long time, I had a ritual of picking up a bath bomb at Lush whenever I visited the mall. I still like to stop in from time to time to see what's new. This Plum Rain shower gel smelled good (in the bottle, not much smell in the bath) and worked well as a bubble bath but I didn't find it to be anything spectacular. I'll still stop into Lush from time to time but now that I'm getting more into natural beauty products, I want to use only clean products.
8. VERDURA Naturalternatives Lotus Hydrating Mist
This product was sent to me by the brand and I absolutely loved it. Facial sprays have become part of my daily ritual and this was one of my daily go-tos. The hibiscus scent is completely intoxicating and my skin welcomed the hydration. Products from this brand are so natural and clean that I felt really good about using this mist on my skin.
9. Derma-E Charcoal Mask (sample from Whole Foods)
I tried a sample packet of this that I picked up at Whole Foods awhile back and I was pleasantly surprised. It was gentle, yet detoxifying, and wasn't impossible to remove (my usual complain with clay masks). If you're looking to take a mask selfie, this is a good one because it looks nice wet and dry. I'm looking forward to using the second packet that I picked up. Note: You can often find free samples in the beauty section of Whole Foods that are a fun treat.
Things I've Added to my Collection
I also wanted to share with you things that I've added to my product collection over the last 30 days to be totally transparent with you. As a blogger, I'm lucky to be sent products from PR firms and brands so that I can try out products and write reviews. This is one of the reasons that I wanted to do a no buy, so that I could focus on the products that I have and use them up. I only accept products that are vegan and cruelty-free. Also I'm moving towards green beauty so I've been turning down companies that are not green as well.
Here are the products that I was fortunate to receive this month (I will write reviews once I use them up):

- Soapwalla Luxurious Body Oil
