Hi, my name is Lindsey Arnold and I'm the creator of Velvet Report. I started Velvet Report about a year ago to share my love of vegan beauty and fashion and it's since grown into a community on Instagram and a Facebook group where people from around the world can share their finds and help one another out.
I've also curated a couple of vegan beauty boxes and am launching the first Velvet Report beauty product in a couple of days (so excited!). I'm always trying new products but also tend to stick to a routine once it works. Here's what I'm currently working with in my vegan beauty bag.
Most of my current makeup routine consists of products from the Velvet Report Vegan Makeup Starter Kit. I made sure to include things that I love or have been wanting to try so that it feels like something that is really special and that I would use. I haven't been wearing foundation lately, instead focusing on improving my skin texture rather than covering it up.
Skincare has been the biggest challenge for me to stay consistent. I always want to try new cleansers, serums, masks, lotions, etc. I'm definitely on the hunt for those holy grail skincare items that I KNOW are out there. Where are you??? But I've learned that it's not about the amount of products or finding the perfect product, sometimes it's about using less products and really paying close attention to your skin. I've become super simple with my skincare routine and it's working! I can't share all of the products I've been using because some of them are in development for the Velvet Report line. Coming soon!
I'm going to confess something here. I only wash my hair once a week! I know, sounds crazy, but it really does work. I started this recently after reading about the "no poo" movement and being intrigued. Can you really stop washing your hair and have it look better than ever? Yes, and no. Sometimes my hair seems a bit greasy, others a bit dry, but overall, I've never been happier with my hair when I've had it at this length (it's starting to get long). I think it's all down to the products I've been using.
I'm not currently wearing a fragrance. I know, I know, bad beauty guru. I still feel like I have a lot to learn about perfume and what can be considered a healthy fragrance versus one with toxic ingredients. It can be really tricky since perfume makers do not have to disclose what is in their "parfume/fragrance" ingredients because they are considered a trade secret. These laws look to be changing in the near future, but until then I'm still on the hunt for my signature (healthy) scent. I do like to stop by a Le Labo counter from time to time though.
Okay, these don't go in my beauty bag, but who doesn't love a good candle? I'm a diehard Diptyque fan and my favorites right now are Noisette and Cannelle. I love to look for Diptyque boutique exclusives when I'm visiting a new city. They're the perfect reminder of memories I made on each trip.
