I thought it would be fun to do a regular "New in this Week" post. Obviously, I'm not prepared for this as this post is going up on a Thursday! But that's the whole point of this blogging every day until Christmas thing. It's not about writing the perfect posts and planning everything out weeks in advance. It's more about sharing thoughts and hopefully starting a conversation.
Part of me felt like my whole blog and Instagram account were turning into pushing products rather than connecting and sharing about vegan beauty, life, other stuff, etc. I hope this "New in this Week" won't feel like product pushing but more like sharing what I'm trying out and letting you know what I think. This way if you want any follow up reviews you can let me know. Also, I'd love to know what you're trying out lately.
I was recently gifted some new products from Joanna Vargas, a super luxurious plant-based skincare line by the celebrity facialist herself. I tried her Euphoria Sheet Mask from Violet Grey and it was glorious! A lot of wet sheet masks make my skin sting but this one incredibly soothing.
I'm excited to try out JV Eye Cream. I put it on this morning and it had the most wonderful smell. I couldn't quite place what it was so I read through the ingredients, cocoa! I've been on the hunt for the perfect vegan eye cream for most of my adult life as I find most of them to be well, not that great. I have high hopes for this one though and I'll update you soon!
The second product I'm super excited about is the Vitamin C Face Wash. Face wash is another thing that I'm always testing and never quite satisfied with. I love the Tata Harper face washes but it would be nice to have something travel friendly and maybe a little less heavy duty than an oil cleanser. Let's see how this goes...
Lastly, I'm looking forward to using the Dawn Face Mask. I've been getting more into acids lately and a mask seems like a good way to exfoliate the skin and test out introducing acids into your skincare routine. I promise to test this out and not to save it in my drawer so I can look at the pretty packaging for the next 6 months!
I'm still trying out the Thrive Causemetics makeup that I shared in this recent YouTube video. Since filming I learned that the CC Cream has a chemical SPF in it, not a physical one like I always go for (better for the environment and some say better for your skin too). Regardless, I tried it out again today and I think the shade I picked was a little too light. I have darker shades too so I will try one of those next time. The coverage was heavier than I remembered (which I liked) and the finish was perfect, not too matte or too shiny. It's just a bummer about the chemical SPF. So far the Thrive Causemetics mascara and lipgloss have been the stars of the collection. (FYI: You can get $10 off your Thrive Causemetics order HERE).
This week I also started using Vegamour lash and brow growing products. I'm hopeful that they'll help my sparse brows so stay tuned for a future update.
I'm currently finishing a book by Epictetus. I got really into Stocism and philosophy this summer and have been reading lots of books on the topic ever since. Once I finish, I'll be switching gears and reading In Paris by Jeanne Damas and Lauren Bastide. I remember when this book first came out in French so I'm happy I can finally read it in English. Yes, I'm one of those people who has a desire to be a cool French girl :)
I'd love to know what new things you are trying this week :) Let me know in the comments below.
Also my kitten Coco says hi. She loves to jump in when I'm taking photos and I don't mind.
