If you've ever started your own business, you'll know that it can be a very exciting (and lonely) venture. On the one hand, you're finally chasing your dreams and building something you believe in. On the other, at time you're full of self-doubt and miss having people to bounce ideas off of.
For the last couple of years (ever since I started a social robotics business pre Velvet Report), I've been going to different women in business meetups around Seattle. I've found that the ladies there were incredibly supportive of the types of unique struggles that we face and it was nice to have people to talk to who understand. They've also been a great resource for ideas when I'm feeling stuck in my business.
In a world where social media connection is so so important, it's also really wonderful to remember the power of in-person interactions. These women's business groups that I currently attend in the Seattle area:
Seattle Women's Business Groups
#Girlboss Seattle Meetup
I've been attending this meetup the longest, and it's actually a Meetup.com group. We meet on a Tuesday morning every 2 weeks at Mighty-O donuts (best vegan donuts in the city!) for a hour. We share our progress, struggles, and goals for our businesses, hoping to keep each other accountable to achieving our business goals. The reason I keep going back to this group is because the women understand the struggles of a solo-preneur and also they have great ideas on how to succeed as a B2C business.

Seattle Girl Bosses
I met the organizer of this group a few years ago through the blogging world and stayed connected ever since. I've attended several events put on my Seattle Girl Bosses (bouquet making, Galentine's Day, hair braiding, coffee meet ups). Their events tend to attract ladies who are super interested in design, photography, and fashion, many of whom have their own blog and/or business. I enjoy connecting with them because they are super passionate about what they do and each event feels like a get together with close friends. I also had the opportunity to be a sponsor/vendor at one of the events.

Seattle Business Babes
This group is relatively new to Seattle only launching in January 2018, but it's a chapter of a larger group Business Babes Collective. I think I've been to almost every event since they started! It's been an amazing place to meet new people, connect with business owners/vendors for my own events, and to hear inspiring speakers. I even got the opportunity to participate as a panelist for building healthy businesses earlier this year! If you're looking for support and inspiration, this is the place to be.
Organizer (Seattle Chapter): Alisha
This is not a group per se, but rather a supportive female-forward co-working space that also has events. One day I used a free pass to work at the Capitol Hill location for a few hours. Not only did I get a lot of work done, I also got free coffee and Theo's dark chocolate (yes, it's vegan). The Riveter is also super involved in the community and women's rights. If I were looking for a co-working space, this would be the one I'd join. They have locations in Capitol Hill, Fremont, Bellevue, and LA so far.

I know there are other women's business groups in Seattle but these are the ones that resonated with me. If you have a favorite group, either in Seattle or in your own town, please leave it in the comments below so we can check it out :)
