Today in Seattle it's 24 degrees Fahrenheit and snowing. It's quite the winter wonderland here so I thought it would be the perfect time to share some of my vegan skincare favorites for the winter months.
In winter the air can be quite drying, so it's important to focus on getting enough hydration in your routine. I do this first by making sure my cleanser is not too drying or striping. Next I add a hydrating serum and finish off with a moisturizer. Here's a break down product by product (all vegan and cruelty-free):
This cleanser came as an unexpected surprise. It was sent to me by another Seattle blogger (thanks @hellorigby!) and turned out to be the perfect winter cleanser. It comes in balm form and smells like lime so it does a great job as a first cleanse and gives me a pick-me-up at the same time.
Who doesn't want a bit of vitamin C when the weather is dark and cold? This face wash is like a shot of Florida sunshine in your boring winter dreariness. Just 2 pumps, mix with water, and you get a jolt of vitamin C, brightness, and clean skin that doesn't feel dry. I alternate between this and Green Clean, using this for days when I'm not wearing makeup. (Note: This product was gifted to me on the agreement that I would only share it if I truly loved it, no obligation)
After I cleanse and tone my skin, I follow up with a serum before locking it all in with moisturizer. Lately I've been testing out the Hydrating Serum by Pure Bioderm. Designed by two female dermatologists (how cool is that?!), this serum is packed with hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to give your skin a bouncy, hydrated look and feel. I've definitely noticed a reduction in dry flaky skin since I started incorporating this serum into my routine. Each of these items is also sold separately, but I thought I would feature the set since this is what I owe my skin transformation to over the last year. As someone who used to struggle with dry skin and redness, I've found that these super gentle products have been exactly what my skin craves year-round, but especially in winter.
I use the Micellar Water to take off any leftover makeup (especially eye makeup), spritz the Rose Toner all over my face and neck, and finish up with Daily Moisturizer right after I apply the Pure Bioderm Hydrating Serum. It's amazing what a pared down and targeted skincare routine can do for your overall skin health and appearance!
